Members of the Japanese Religious Committee for the World Federation came to Hawaii earlier this month to attend memorial services for the 75th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

On Dec. 10, the diocesan prison ministry hosted its annual “Star Light, Star Bright” Christmas party for inmates and their families at the Women’s Community Correctional Center in Kailua. The day included games and activities such as Christmas card decorating.

Bishop Larry Silva ordained Sacred Hearts Brother Jeremy Sabugo a “transitional deacon” during a Dec. 8 liturgy at St. Patrick Church in Kaimuki. As a deacon, Brother Sabugo will now be able to preach and assist at the altar during Mass, meanwhile completing his final formation steps toward priesthood.
