Educator and artist Sister Julie Louise Thevenin of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary died peacefully in her sleep Jan. 26 at Malia O Ka Malu convent in Kaimuki. She was 97 and a religious sister for 76 years.
Castle Foundation awards $250K to Chaminade for STEM education

Full transition to second grade Confirmation to take 5 years
Soon Confirmation in Hawaii will no longer be a high school sacrament but one received in the second grade, with first Holy Communion. The change will be staggered for parishes over the next five years during which the Diocese of Honolulu will return the reception of the three “sacraments of initiation” to their “original” order — Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Communion.
