Saint Martin’s University honors local alumnus

St. Patrick piano teacher celebrates 60 years in Catholic schools

Sacred Hearts Sister Anne Marie Tamanaha, herself confined to a wheelchair, received a standing ovation from 700 fellow teachers and school administrators for her six-decade career in education at the Annual Conference for Catholic School Educators Mass Feb. 5 in the Sacred Hearts Academy gym.

Get your Fat Tuesday malassadas at Damien or St. Joseph, Maui

Fat Tuesday malassadas will be available at a couple of schools this year, one on Oahu and one on Maui. The presale deadline is Feb. 1 for the very popular Damien Memorial School’s malassadas sale. The cost is $6 for a half dozen, $12 for a dozen.

Obituary: Sister Charlotte Ann Esch, BVM | 1917-2015

Sister Charlotte Ann Esch of the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVM Sisters), who taught at two parish schools on Kauai in the 1950s and 1960s, died Nov. 30 at Marian Hall in Dubuque, Iowa. She was 98, and spent 80 years in religious life.
