Bishop Silva’s Arlington lecture, ‘Who am I to judge? …’
The bishop’s lecture is titled “Who Am I to Judge? Divine Mercy and Diabolical Deception.” Bishop Silva explained that the talk is based on the homily he gave on Divine Mercy Sunday earlier this year.

Bishop Larry Silva will preside at ceremonies next month to open in Hawaii the Jubilee Holy Year of Mercy, Dec. 8 to Nov. 20, 2016, proclaimed by Pope Francis as “an extraordinary moment of grace and spiritual renewal.”

Speak clearly, with reverence. Understand what you are reading. Prepare. The diocesan Office of Worship has issued an 11-page guide on how to be a good lector, listing both liturgical principles and practical advice such as this.
Bishop reconfirms liturgical norms regarding ‘sacred gestures’
Bishop Larry Silva issued on July 20 a “General Decree on the Use of Hula in the Liturgy,” a brief 125-word document that “reiterates” that the rules on the liturgical use of Pacific Island and Asian “sacred gesture” issued in 1999 by Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo “remain in effect as particular law for the Diocese of Honolulu.”
