I didn’t close up the windows!
I worry that one day someone is going to rob us because I was careless in protecting my family. I also worry about my sons JP and Lance growing up Catholic only to aimlessly wander through young adulthood. I even worry about all 66 parishes in our state that I’m charged with serving through Young Adult Ministry. Throw in the “is my wife happy and growing in Christ” question and, man … “I feel you St. Paul!”
However, in today’s Gospel, Jesus tells us to store up only things of heaven and focus on the light. We all worry and are weak to our human emotions. But if we focus “soul-ly” on Christ and the good that can be taken beyond death (love shared and sacrifices made for others), then the worries and weaknesses “disappear.”
Deepen your relationship with Jesus every day. If you stay faithful to him in the face of all worry and weakness, then you will certainly have heavenly rest when you die from this world.
“Therefore, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and constraints, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Cor 12:10)
