YOUCAT*: Without the Gospels we would not know that God sends his Son to us men out of his infinite love, so that despite our sins we might find our way back to eternal fellowship with God. [422-429]
Nowadays we receive good news in a variety of ways — a text message, through Facebook or a phone call. I’m graduating! We’re having a baby! I’m being confirmed! These are definitely statements announcing good news.
Through the Gospels, which translated means “good news,” we hear the story of Jesus Christ — his life, death, and resurrection. The “Good News” is Jesus himself, the Word made flesh.
“And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)
