The International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be in Hawaii Nov. 1-21, visiting at least 13 parishes on Oahu and one on the Big Island.
The statue, a four-foot high image of the apparition of the Blessed Mother to three peasant children in Fatima, Portugal, has been taken all over the world since 1947 in the promotion of devotion to Mary. There are two traveling statues.
Miracles, favors, conversions and graces have been attributed to the statue’s visits.
A church visit of the pilgrim statue lasts a minimum of four hours. It always included a procession of the statue on a platform and a 20-30 minute introduction by the current custodian of the statue.
Other activities could include Mass, a scapular enrollment, recitation of the rosary, consecration to the Blessed Mother and quiet time.
