Mass and luau honor departing Marists
More than 750 people said aloha to the Marists at the farewell luau at Star of the Sea Parish in Waialae-Kahala, Aug. 29. The event honored the Marist Fathers and Brothers, who have served in Hawaii for 60 years.
The day began with a Mass celebrated by diocesan administrator Father Thomas Gross.
In his homily, Father Gross said that the Marists had brought the fruits of their charism, serving the people with a devotion to Mary.
“For 58 years, your community has been serving this parish and the diocese,” Father Gross said. “On behalf of the diocese, I would like to say, ‘thank you.’”
