The Oahu Council of Filipino Catholic Clubs will celebrate its annual fundraising campaign, coronation and pageant on Aug. 16 at St. Michael Church in Waialua.
This year’s Queen of Charity is Jacqueline Buted Medrano of St. Michael Parish.
The event begins with a procession at 4:30 p.m. and Mass at 5 p.m. followed by dinner and pageant activities.
Also honored will be nine princesses representing different virtues, each dressed in a different color. Queen of Charity Medrano will wear white.
Every year, parish Filipino Catholic Clubs under the umbrella of the Oahu Council sell products such as Portuguese sausage, macadamia nuts and smoked fish to raise funds for scholarships for children of FCC members who go to private high schools and colleges.

This year St. Michael raised $18,719, $8,000 more than the next highest competing parish. Eleven parishes raised a total of $77,352.
