Hawaii members of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities, representatives from the St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii and others joined Gov. Neil Abercrombie April 1 in his office after he signed HB 2359, a bill which designates Jan. 23 as St. Marianne Cope Day in Hawaii. Jan. 23, St. Marianne’s birthday, is also her liturgical feast day. The governor, who praised the saint’s contribution to Hawaii, said it was a “very moving opportunity … to be able to sign the bill.” (HCH photo | Patrick Downes)
