Women of the Cross is a lay ministry of women who come together to pray the rosary, do prayer requests, pray the divine mercy chaplet with personal and requested intentions, attend first Friday adoration and hold a 24-hour prayer vigil every three months.
The group also holds Bible studies with La Salette Father Anil Varghese, associate pastor of Christ the King Church in Kahului.
Members help at Christ the King by cleaning it once a month, assisting during the church bazaar and singing at two Saturday vigil Masses every month.
WOTC was formed in 2018 and now has about 30 members. Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet Angela Laurenzo is its spiritual director.
Members of WOTC were commissioned by La Salette Father Efren Tomas, pastor of Christ the King, during Mass Sept. 14: Sister Laurenzo, Gloria Rongcal Gage, Malyntha Haleyalpiy, Malyah-Grace Haleyalpiy, Kim Atenza, Kathy Sacapanio, Patricia Balinbin, Claudia Crowell, Wena Gazmen, Nancy Castro, Joybelle Agustin, Amanda Patoc, Marilyn Villon, Norma Cronkite and Lucy Peros. Other members will be commissioned at a later date.
