MARCH FOR LIFE 2024
All are invited to the March for Life at the State Capitol, 3-6 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19. Join us in celebrating the gift of life as we bring God’s love through prayer and example to the public square, under this year’s theme, “Aloha Kekahi I Kekahi” — love one another. Life is a gift from God, no one is a mistake, every single person is formed in God’s image and likeness. Let us proclaim this message to the world.
Speaking at the event will be Bishop Larry Silva and two members of the Sisters of Life order — Sister Vernonica from Washington, D.C., and Sister Amata from New York City. Cardinal John O’Connor founded the Sisters of Life in 1991 to care for vulnerable pregnant women and their unborn children, inviting those wounded by abortion to the healing mercy of Jesus, fostering a culture of life through evangelization, spiritual guidance to college students, and upholding the beauty of marriage and family life.
The March for Life will include a Divine Mercy Chaplet, an oli (chanted prayer) by Joshua Kapika honoring Sts. Damien and Marianne, and music by Peter Uiagalelei and Eric Lee. Keola Kalani will be master of ceremonies.
The Knights of Columbus, 40 Days for Life, Walking with Women in Need, Deeper Still, Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat, and other organizations will have displays at the capitol rally. Come and see how you can join them as fellow laborers in God’s vineyard. “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.”
In coordination with the march, respect life banners and pinwheels will decorate parish grounds across the state. Students in Catholic schools and religious education programs are participated in a poster/essay/art contest on this year’s theme. Contest winners will be announced at the March for Life.
