Ohana in Christ is solidly on track. The diocese’s annual appeal is nearly halfway to its $1,125,000 goal, two months into its campaign.
Launched in October, as of this month it has collected $531,340, 47% of its total goal. That is an increase of 3% versus the same time last year.
The appeal runs through June.
Each parish is given a goal of 25% of its current annual diocesan assessment, the amount it gives yearly to the diocese to help cover diocesan operations.
According to the diocesan Office of Stewardship and Development, which coordinates the appeal, at least five parishes have already met their goals. They are Holy Rosary, Pahala; Sacred Heart, Pahoa; St. Anthony, Kailua; St. Damien of Molokai; St. Joseph, Waipahu; and St. John Vianney, Kailua.
The collection supports priests, seminarians, deacon formation, youth and young adult ministry, services to the poor, administrative and financial offices, diocesan communications and more.
