Show your support for our vowed religious sisters, brothers, priests, hermits and consecrated virgins as the church celebrates the World Day for Consecrated Life, Saturday, Feb. 3, with a 10 a.m. Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa in Honolulu, followed by a potluck lunch.
Saint John Paul II instituted the World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life in 1997.
This celebration is assigned to the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord Feb. 2, also known as Candlemas, the day on which candles are blessed symbolizing Christ, the light of the world.
So too, those in consecrated life are called to reflect the light of Jesus Christ to all peoples.
The World Day for Consecrated Life is celebrated on the following Sunday to highlight the gift of consecrated persons for the whole church.
