Honolulu-born Dominican Sister was a teacher on the mainland for 34 years
Hawaii-born Dominican Sister of Sinsinawa, Wisconsin, Frances Consuelo Ibarley, a teacher and pastoral minister, died Oct. 28 at St. Elizabeth Manor, Footville, Wis. She was 86 and a religious for 61 years.
Her religious name was Sister Maria Consuelo. Her burial was Oct. 31 in the Motherhouse Cemetery in Sinsinawa. The funeral Mass was held at St. Elizabeth Manor Nov. 16.
Sister Frances Consuelo made her first religious profession as a Dominican Sister of Sinsinawa Aug. 5, 1962, and her perpetual profession Aug. 5, 1967. She taught for 34 years and was a teacher assistant for three years.
Sister Frances Consuelo served as pastoral minister for two years and in family care for one year. In true Dominican style, she learned daily about her faith and the world, sharing the fruits of her contemplation and concerns for the welfare of the earth and those who inhabit it.
She worked in Minnesota, Washington, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, New Mexico and Hawaii.
Sister Frances Consuelo was born May 19, 1937, in Honolulu to Pastor and Consuelo (Bautista Ele) Ibarley. She is survived by a sister, Bridget Nava, and her Dominican Sisters.

Foremost of her life, Sister Frances Consuelo was a school teacher in states in the Midwest and West. She spent one year, from 1992 to 1993, in family care in Honolulu.
