Diocesan vicar general Msgr. Gary Secor holds the framed resolution presented by the City and County of Honolulu Sept. 6 to Bishop Larry Silva, pictured to the left of Msgr. Secor, honoring the 180th Anniversary of the Dedication of the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace in downtown Honolulu. Also attending the ceremony Councilman Tyler Dos Santos Tam who initiated the resolution; consultant Kekoa McClellan, who helped arrange for the resolution; Scott Ruppel, Cathedral Renewal Project Consultant, Katey Dallosto, Cathedral Renewal Fundraising Consultant, and other City Council members. In a mahalo letter to Councilman Dos Santos Tam, Bishop Silva wrote, “We are most appreciative of your kindness in honoring this sacred place!” He said that he hopes the resolution will help further the completion of the full renovation of the cathedral in a couple of years.
