Religious sisters, brothers and priests pose for a group photo following Mass celebrated by Bishop Larry Silva at the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa in commemoration of the World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life Feb. 4. In 1997 St. John Paul II instituted a day of prayer for women and men in consecrated life attached to the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord on Feb. 2, also known as Candlemas Day, the day candles are blessed symbolizing Christ, the light of the world. So too are those in consecrated life called to reflect the light of Jesus Christ to all peoples. The celebration of World Day for Consecrated Life is transferred to the following Sunday, this year Feb. 4-5, in order to highlight the gift of consecrated persons for the whole church.
