‘Ohana in Christ, the diocesan annual appeal, in the second month of its second year, has seen an increase in collections from this time last year.
Launched in October, the 2022-23 campaign has collected $516,237, a 3-and-a-half percent increase over the same time last year, and 46% of its total goal of $1,125,000. The appeal goes through June.
Each parish is given the goal of 25% of its current annual assessment, the amount it gives yearly to the diocese to help cover diocesan operations.
Seven parishes have gone over their assigned goals: Blessed Sacrament, Honolulu; Immaculate Conception, Ewa; St. George, Waimanalo; St. John Vianney, Kailua; St. Jude, Kapolei; St. Rita, Haiku; and St. Stephen, Nuuanu.
The collection supports priests, seminarians, deacon formation, youth and young adult ministry, services to the poor, administrative and financial offices, diocesan communications and more.
The diocesan Office of Stewardship and Development is coordinating the appeal.
