Facita Brennon, 87, of Honolulu wanted to share her story about the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet on the occasion of their anniversary in Hawaii. Her sister, Sister Margarita Marie (Pirimina) Ringor, joined the congregation in 1951. Sister Margarita died in 1986.

My sister and I used to walk with my parents every Sunday to (St. Joseph) Church in Waipahu, Oahu, where we were born and raised. There we met two Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet who came here 75 years ago. They were Sister Mary Faber (Van der Werf) and Sister Mary Anne (Bahner).
After Mass, they would teach us our catechism and other religious subjects so that we could receive our First Holy Communion. They were so patient and worked real hard for us and we loved them. I’m happy to say, that we did receive our First Holy Communion. This was the same way for my four adult children (now ages 69, 67, 64 and 60) who received the training by the Sisters of St. Joseph in Waipahu when they were young.
I’ll always remember the Sisters of St. Joseph in Hawaii and give them lots of credit and I also pray for them of how they were and are.
In appreciation, I would like to say “Congratulations,” “Thank you very much,” and “Good Luck” on their 75th anniversary. They all deserve it! Mahalo.
