Father Anthony Rapozo, pastor at St. John Apostle and Evangelist Parish in Mililani, poses with the “royal court” of the parish’s first annual Holy Ghost Feast, June 5, Pentecost Sunday, at the 11 a.m. Mass. The Holy Ghost Feast is a traditional Portuguese cultural celebration introduced to the islands by Portuguese immigrants. Pictured with Father Rapozo are the Holy Ghost queen and four ladies-in-waiting and their families. The Mass was followed by a meal of Portuguese bean soup, malassadas and Portuguese sweet rolls for more than 200 people. The pastor is of Portuguese ethnicity. Other island parishes have also celebrated this tradition. (Photo courtesy of Ozzie Jaramillo)
