The more I learn about our Catholic faith, and the devotions of the people, I come to realize that God’s view of perfection weighs heavily on diversity and that ALL things point to God.
In Psalm 148, the psalmist begins by inviting all beings to praise God! Through all of heaven and all of earth, the psalmist encourages “all praise the Lord’s name; for he commanded and they were created.”
I have always considered myself to be lucky to live in Hawaii because of our beautifully diverse natural setting. After living in Seattle (which is beautiful in its own way), I realized how much I love surfing, hiking and watching sunsets, and that led me to appreciate the beauty and goodness of God.
Today’s tip is to organize a hike, beach day, or outdoor excursion for young adults to learn more about the Creator through his creation. Center the event on a devotion close to your community (i.e. rosary, Bible study, Divine Mercy Chaplet) and end the day by letting the young adults share their experiences. Survey your group and see what appeals most to them (beach or hike, rosary or Bible study) and “Let them all praise the Lord’s name, for his name alone is exalted, his majesty above earth and heaven.” (Ps 148:13)
