The annual diocesan Baccalaureate Mass went online and switched to an interactive Zoom prayer service with Bishop Larry Silva.
Coordinated through the Office of Youth and Young Adult ministry, the May 21, 7 p.m. virtual gathering lasted an hour and had 73 participants logged in.
A Q&A with Bishop Silva was followed by the prayer service in which youth and young adults from various islands led a song, reading and prayer intentions from their homes. OYYAM also “debuted” the link to a narrated video slideshow featuring more than 70 local Catholic members of the Class of 2020.
In a short reflection, Bishop Silva told the graduates he hoped that just as they worked to maintain their school friendships after graduation, “I hope you will be a friend of Jesus because this is someone who loves you more than you can possibly imagine and really wants to be your friend.”
“Jesus wants to walk with us every step of the way, every step of our journey,” he said.
