Young Catholic adults on Maui have a new source of community.
EPIC Ministry launched its Maui chapter on Feb. 17 with a gathering at the scenic He Piko No Waiohuli grounds in Kula.
Thirty people attended, with about 13 of them traveling over from Oahu for the faith sharing and fellowship gathering.
The Maui EPIC chapter includes seven Maui parishes and Lanai’s parish, all of which committed to participating in and supporting the ministry: Christ the King, Kahului; the Kula Catholic Community; St. Anthony, Wailuku; St. Joseph, Makawao; St. Mary, Hana; St. Theresa, Kihei; St. Ann, Waihee; and Sacred Hearts on Lanai.
The plan is for one to two monthly gatherings and twice monthly small group meetings at Christ the King, St. Joseph and St. Theresa.
EPIC is an approved “association of the faithful” in the Diocese of Honolulu. It already has groups at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Wahiawa, St. Michael Parish in Waialua and Resurrection of the Lord in Waipio.
The EPIC-Maui Chapter coordinators are Cecilia Jacinto from St. Theresa and Pua Kaialiilii from the Kula Catholic Community.
