A volleyball tournament with eight mixed teams of singles, married couples, priests, sisters, brothers and deacons will be the main event at the vocation-themed Exodus Games, a day of fun, competition and celebrating life’s choices, 9 a.m.-4 pm., July 6 at Sacred Hearts Academy in Kaimuki.
Sponsored by the Central Oahu Vicariate Youth and Young Adult Ministries, the day designed primarily for young folks is being described by organizers as a “response to Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI’s pronouncement of the Year of Faith.”
Informational and display booths will highlight the various Christian vocational callings of marriage, priesthood, consecrated religious life and the single life.
Tables with checkers, chess, Jenga and other quiet games will provide an opportunity for young people to meet and mingle with priests, religious sisters and brothers and deacons.
Other groups helping organize Exodus Games are the Diocesan Year of Faith Committee, Office of Vocations and the diocesan Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry.
The event’s name is meant to relate one’s life journey to the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt, accompanied by God through the desert and into the Promised Land.
