At their 40th annual state convention banquet April 26-27 at the Ala Moana Hotel in Honolulu, the Knights of Columbus Hawaii State Council elected new officers, honored Bishop Larry Silva and presented eight annual awards.
About 75 attended the convention and 150 went to the convention banquet.
Bishop Silva celebrated the convention’s Mass on April 27. After Mass, the delegates convened their annual meeting and elected the following 2019-2020 state officers: state deputy, Michael M. Madix; state secretary, Ryan K. Brown; state treasurer, Randall Tom; state advocate, Robert B. Camilleri; and state warden, Patrick T. Maher.
At the banquet that evening, the bishop was presented with a State House of Representatives certificate of commendation in recognition for his many years of leadership to the Diocese of Honolulu.
The following awards were also presented: Knight of the Year, Mel Tom, Council 14620; Lady of the Year, Ella Jaunillo, Council 6734; Council of the Year, Immaculate Conception Council 6734; Family of the Year, Steve and Vivian Rabideau, Council 14620; Grand Knight of the Year, Gary Jose, Council 11485; District Deputy of the Year, Patrick T. Maher, District 1; State Officer of the Year, Ryan K. Brown, Council 14620; Lifetime Achievement Award, Michael P. Victorino, Council 8578.
There are more than 2500 Knights of Columbus statewide.
