To commemorate National Vocation Awareness Week, Nov. 4-10, the Hawaii Catholic Schools office and the Director of Vocations of the Diocese of Honolulu, Father Rheo Ofalsa, sponsored a Vocations Awareness Art Contest for students in grades kindergarten through grade eight in Hawaii’s 33 Catholic schools.
The theme for the contest was “Vocations – Answering God’s Call to Spread the Kingdom of God.”
The grand prize, the Superintendent’s Choice Award, went to Isabella Linhares, an eighth grader at St. Ann School, Kaneohe, for her colorful drawing titled, “The Elements of God.” She received $250.
The students competed in three categories: grades kindergarten through second grade, grades three through five, and grades six through eight. Each category had a first, second and third place winner, who received $200, $100 and $50 respectively.
