St. Ann Parish in Kaneohe will host an evening Advent retreat that incorporates prayer and painting, Monday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m.
Advent is a season of sights, sounds, aromas, preparation and prayer. Holy images of the season can be powerful points of reflection and meditation. How much more meaningful if the image is one that you create during an evening of prayer and painting.
Artist Sherrie Pokipala has created especially for this retreat a portrait of the Blessed Mother and Infant Jesus. St. Ann Church Adult Faith Formation Team invites you to join the artist in painting a beautiful work of art while meditating on this holy season which prepares us to celebrate one of the church’s greatest mysteries, the Incarnation — God becoming man.
The result of this prayerful evening will be an image that can be used to reflect on the Advent and Christmas mysteries for the whole season.
The retreat will be held in the St. Ann Church Parish Food Court. The cost of materials is $20. Registration is required as space is limited. The registration deadline is Nov. 26. Contact Alika Sheldon, 292-6442, or e-mail slp79akamai@msn.com.
