Saint Louis School in Honolulu is the 14th top-ranked Catholic high school on a national top 25 pre-season football team list.
The “Catholic Athletes for Christ Top 25 High School Football Rankings” lauded Saint Louis for winning the state high school football championships the last two years.
The all-boys kindergarten through high school in Kaimuki also beat Waianae High School 69 to 6 in its first game of the season on Aug. 10.
The Catholic Athletes for Christ list is compiled by Global Football and Siena Heights University of Adrian, Michigan.
Criteria to make the list “include the quality of the team and its players, strength of schedule, tradition, and quality of the team’s league, conference, region or district,” according to Patrick Steenberge at Global Football.
The no. 1 rated team is St. John Bosco School of Bellflower, California.
Weekly top 25 rankings will come out each Wednesday starting Sept. 5 with a season top 25 released in January.
Saint Louis has long been known for its athletic programs, particularly its football team.
