Bishop Larry Silva presided over the confirmation of 27 children and youth April 8 at the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace. The cathedral has long conferred the sacraments of initiation in there “proper” or “original” order — baptism, confirmation and Holy Eucharist — where baptism is administered to infants and confirmation and Holy Communion given to second graders. The rest of the parishes in the diocese, which have traditionally confirmed its parishioners around high school age, will be transitioning to this practice over the next three years. The first group of parishes, around 30, will administer confirmation to all children and youth from second grade through high school on Pentecost, May 20. (Photos by Miguel Heraclio)
