The Maui Vicariate Rite of Election March 5 at St. Theresa Church, Kihei, welcomed 16 catechumens from six Valley Isle parishes stating their intent to enter fully into the life of the Catholic Church. Their teachers and godparents, as well as Deacon Pat Constantino, Marianist Father Roland Bunda and Father Jaime Jose were there to support and confirm their commitment. Vicar forane Msgr. Terrence Watanabe, left, gave the homily and witnessed each candidate sign the Book of the Elect. These 16 will receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist at their parishes at the Easter Vigil April 15. They are John Agonoy, Jayden Blando and Travis Polido from Christ the King, Kahului; Tyanalei and Tyson Coloma-Nahooikaika from Holy Rosary, Paia; Brooke Gagnon, Bliss Navarro and Romeo Ramos from Maria Lanakila, Lahaina; Jaylin Robbi from St. Joseph, Makawao; Misty-Raine Fontanilla and Autumn Wright-Hurlburt from St. Mary, Hana; and Jayci and Saydi Bulosan, Noah Gabriel, Suwan McGrath and Jody Yoshida from St. Anthony, Wailuku.
