Sister of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Margaret Mollan, who taught on Kauai, died Feb. 26, 2017, at Marian Hall in Dubuque, Iowa. Burial was in Mount Carmel cemetery, Dubuque. She was 94 and a religious sister for 77 years.
Sister Margaret taught at St. Catherine School in Kapaa, Kauai. She also taught elementary and secondary schools in Iowa, Illinois, California, Nebraska and Montana. In California she also served in pastoral ministry and as a school, parish and community volunteer.
Sister Margaret was born Laurice Mollan in Chicago on March 22, 1922, to Herbert E. and Laura McMullen Mollan. She entered the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, also known as the BVM congregation, on Sept. 8, 1939, from Presentation Parish, Chicago. She professed first vows on March 19, 1942, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1947.
She is survived by a nephew, grandnephew, grandnieces, and the Sisters of Charity BVM with whom she shared life for 77 years.
