Hawaii’s newest star, Aulii Cravalho, the voice of the title character in the new Disney animated film “Moana,” will be among a lineup of celebrities and personalities flipping pancakes at St. John Vianney School’s seventh annual “Breakfast with the Bishop,” Jan. 29.
Bishop Larry Silva, the main draw, will be at all three breakfast servings, 8 a.m., 10 a.m., and noon, in the church’s parish hall following the parish Masses. The church is at 920 Keolu Drive in Kailua.
The event, a fund raiser for the parish school, will also feature Honolulu City Councilmember Ikaika Anderson, Father Eric Bowman, chef Chai Chaowasaree, Miss Hawaii Allison Chu, entertainer Frank De Lima, sportscaster Rob DeMello, Lisa Kanove, vicar general Msgr. Gary Secor and singer Mihana Sousa.
Most of the celebrity chefs will be cooking and serving pancakes, as part of a larger buffet.
Bishop Silva will speak on the value of a Catholic education and the special role of parish schools. The pastor Father Peter Miti and principal Caryn DeMello will greet breakfast-goers and thank them for their support of the school.
Entertainment will include the school’s hula halau and the musicians in the school’s music department.
The meal will be prepared by the school’s professional chefs and served by the school’s teachers, parents and students.
Proceeds will go toward the building of a new two-classroom kindergarten building to replace the old, inadequate one.
Over the past six years this event has raised more than $175,000 to improve the school’s facilities, attracting more than 400 people a year.
Tickets to the breakfast are $20 for adults, $12 for students 15 and younger and will be available until Jan. 27.
