Thanks and a clarification
Mahalo for the effective way, in the Oct. 7 issue of the Herald, you spotlighted the Fatima statue. Kindly also congratulate Darlene Dela Cruz for the skillful way she compressed so much related information into one page.
I can assure you that your presentation served its purpose of informing and inspiring. Although appreciative readers tend to remain silent, several have sent me words of gratitude. I believe they represent the majority. I am convinced your article prepared readers for the splendid tribute given to Our Lady during the Holy Hour — a cathedral full of persons praying and singing with admirable zeal.
Now for a clarification. According to your article, Sacred Hearts Academy as school had tried to obtain a statue. Not so. The statue was repeatedly requested by the large community of Sacred Hearts Sisters who resided at the Academy. Under the leadership of Mother Louise Henriette, they wanted the Fatima statue for their large and beautiful chapel where Sisters and students worshiped. It was Mother Louise Henriette who asked my Dad to check on her order when he would be in Portugal for the Holy Year, 1950.
Again, mahalo and blessings on your ministry of Catholic journalism.

Vote as Catholics
The article, “To vote or not to vote,” interviewing Eva Andrade was inspirational and thought provoking. Andrade’s courage to speak out on very delicate issues motivates Catholics to critically think. And reminds all Catholics of our obligation to: “Vote Catholic!” Not Democrat, Libertarian, Independent or Republican, but as Catholics! Our souls are dependent on it! All Catholics are duty-bound to open the pages of the “Catechism of the Catholic Church.” Pray, ponder and discern on what it means to be Catholic: 834.
We, as Catholics, must believe wholly and fully in the complete dogmatic teachings of the Catholic Church. Everything the church teaches in its entirety, especially issues on life. As Catholics, we must vote for life! “Abortion outweighs all political issues.” (Supreme Knight of Columbus, Carl Anderson) “Catholic theology has NEVER permitted the advancement of the good by the use of evil.” (Michael Voris, S.T.B.) St. Paul reminds us, “And why not say — and we are accused and some claim we say — that we should do evil, that good may come of it? Their penalty is what they deserve.” (Romans 3:8) “My people are ruined for lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6)
Thank you again Ms. Eva Andrade! And may God bless you! Salve Maria!
