St. Anthony is the name given to a pre-school, a grade school and a junior-senior-high school, each a separate operation situated on one large campus in Wailuku, Maui.
However, by August 2017, according to Marianist Brother Fred Silbereis, a reorganization will result in a single St. Anthony School, comprised of four divisions: the pre-school, the primary school, the middle school and the high school.
Besides the May 27 high school graduation, which sent the senior class’ nine young men and 13 young women on to higher education in colleges and universities, the lower St. Anthony Schools had graduations of their own.
At the popular pre-school’s May 20 “graduation” ceremony, presided over by the head teacher, Carlene Santos, students entertained parents and guests with songs, and the pastor, Marianist Father Roland Bunda, gave each child a small graduation scroll.
St. Anthony Grade School had two graduation ceremonies, one on May 23 for the fifth grade, and another on May 25 for the sixth grade. With the school’s reorganization, both classes will move into the new middle school division — grades six through eight. The junior high category will be eliminated and the high school will consist of grades nine through 12.
