- Bishop Silva announces the following appointments:
- Reverend Rex Rilveria as Parochial Vicar of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Pearl City, effective January 9, 2016.
- Reverend Moses Akebule as Parochial Vicar of St. Catherine Parish, Kapaa, effective January 9, 2016.
- Reverend Manuel Hewe as Temporary Administrator of the Kula Catholic Community, effective January 1, 2016, while he continues as Vicar for Clergy.
- Very Reverend Johnathan Hurrell, SS.CC., Provincial of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts — United States Province, has proposed the following appointments. Bishop Silva has confirmed these appointments, effective February 1, 2016:
- Reverend Kris Kaitapu, SS.CC., as Parochial Vicar of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Wahiawa and St. Michael Parish, Waialua.
- Reverend Benny Kosasih, SS.CC., as Parochial Vicar of St. Augustine-by-the-Sea Parish, Waikiki.
- Bishop Silva, at the request of the parish leadership, has officially changed the name of Star of the Sea Parish in Honolulu to Mary, Star of the Sea Parish, effective January 1, 2016. The change will also apply to the parish school and early learning center. (Parish leadership felt that many people did not know that Star of the Sea is one of the traditional titles of the Blessed Virgin Mary, so the new name should make that fact clear.)
- Bishop Silva, as Chair of the Members of the Augustine Educational Foundation, has appointed Carola Souza as a Member for a three-year term, effective January 1, 2016 – December 31, 2018.
- The diocesan offices will be closed Monday, January 18, 2016 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
