Photo: A warm welcome at our Lady of Sorrows

09/23/2026 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Wahiawa welcomed its new parochial administrator, Father Nick Apetorgbor, with a coffee hour July 12 in the parish hall. Parishioner Duke Aiona sat with Father Apetorgbor and led a question-and-answer session. On July 11, Our Lady of Sorrows hosted a workshop sponsored by the diocese titled “Improving Your Serve: Creating a Culture of Welcome in Our Parishes.” Dan Chun, co-founder of Hawaii Islands Ministries, led a fast-paced, energetic workshop on creating a welcoming culture, building hospitality strategies and connecting with newcomers. Attendees included people from other Central Oahu parishes. (Courtesy photo)
