Bishop’s schedule

  • July 9, 6 p.m., Mass for the opening of the bicentennial of the first Catholic missionaries in Hawaii and the feast of Our Lady of Peace, principal patroness of the Diocese of Honolulu, Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa, Honolulu.
  • July 12, 5:30 p.m., Mass with Apostleship of the Sea-Hawaii Ministry, Pier 36, Honolulu.
  • July 14, 9:30 a.m., Bishop’s Administrative Advisory Council (virtual); 2 p.m., Maryknoll Foundation members, Maryknoll School, Makiki.

Bishop’s announcements and appointments

  • Bishop Larry Silva, after long and prayerful consideration, has decided to withdraw the status of the Benedictine Monastery of Mary, Spouse of the Holy Spirit, as a Catholic public association of the Christian faithful of diocesan right, which it received on May 23, 2013. This change will become effective on July 1, 2026. After that date, the Diocese of Honolulu will no longer send priests to the Monastery for Sunday Mass nor permit the reservation of the Blessed Sacrament there. We thank the Monastery for its many years of service to the Diocese of Honolulu. Its future status will be determined by its duly incorporated Board of Directors.
