Bishop’s announcements and appointments

Bishop Silva announces the following:

  • Deacon John Akau and Deacon Taylor Mitchell will be ordained to the priesthood on Friday, May 22, at 6 p.m. at the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa, Honolulu.
  • Father Akau will be assigned as parochial vicar of the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa, Honolulu, effective July 1, 2026.
  • Father Mitchell will be assigned as parochial vicar of St. Anthony Church, Wailuku, effective July 1, 2026.

Bishop Silva announces the following appointments:

  • Rev. Nicholas Apetorgbor as administrator of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Wahiawa, effective June 15, 2026.
  • Rev. Octavius Moo to Diocesan Hospital Ministry, with residence at the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace, effective June 15, 2026.
  • Rev. Royd Mweemba as parochial vicar of St. Elizabeth Church, Aiea, effective June 15, 2026.
  • Rev. Renato Maliwat as parochial vicar of Sacred Heart Church, Honolulu, effective June 15, 2026.
  • The diocesan offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.
