St. Ann ‘living rosary’ to honor Our Lady of Fatima

04/22/2026 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

Special to the Herald

St. Ann Church in Kaneohe will celebrate the feast day of Our Lady of Fatima next month with its annual “living rosary.”

The special event honoring Mary will take place May 13 at 7 p.m. in the church.

Our Lady of Fatima is the Catholic title of the Virgin Mary based on the 1917 apparitions to three shepherd children — siblings Francisco and Jacinta Marto, and their cousin Lucia dos Santos — in Fatima, Portugal. Appearing on the 13th day of each month from May to October, she delivered messages of prayer (specifically the rosary) for peace, repentance and the conversion of sinners.

During the last visit, Oct. 13, an estimate 70,000 people witnessed a solar phenomenon in which the sun appeared to dance, spin and careen toward Earth.
