St. Theresa School Christmas program offers a ‘super’ take on birth of Jesus

A Nativity scene with superheroes? Joseph as a huge DC Comics fan? Yes, this was the premise of the 2025 St. Theresa School, Kekaha, Christmas Song Program titled “A Super Christmas.” The presentation before Christmas break was a little unorthodox, but the message was loud and clear.

As Batman (Kekai Miyashiro), Catwoman (Avery Robinson), Wonder Woman (Zoe Gray), Flash (Jordyn Moreno), Spiderman (James Prince) and the Hulk (Teiva Hesapene) panicked about rumors of a new superhero and about the possibility of losing their jobs, they ran into several characters who helped them understand the true meaning of the powers of Jesus.

The shepherds (Mila Walker, Lucia Silva, Kawahine Palama, Nyjah Moreno and Kaolu Saiki), who heard the news from an angel (Isabella Pasion), were the first to tell the superheroes about the Son of God being born.

The superheroes continued their quest, finding the new hero in a manger in Bethlehem. Mary and Joseph (Kaitlin Prince and Kohbyn Regidor) assured them that Jesus was there to save the world and bring people closer to God. The superhero group celebrated and welcomed this new hero — relieved that they could keep their jobs.

Throughout the play, classes jumped in to sing songs and bring home the message of the wonder of the holidays. Santa and Mrs. Claus (Uncle Larry and Aunty Mary Manuel) dropped by for a visit at the end of the program; hot chocolate, apple cider and coffee closed out the evening.

St. Theresa School is grateful for the support of parents and staff, and for the outstanding teamwork of the learners in putting on the production.

“It takes courage to step up and volunteer to be front and center, to memorize your lines and be willing to put yourself out there,” said Principal Wendy Souza. “I am so inspired by our learners! They never cease to amaze me and I am honored to be able to just be a part of it. This school is magical.”

Special thanks to Sister Gloria Camitan for running the sound system and all the teachers for preparing their class songs!
