Father Carlito A. “Joey” Ranjo Jr. marked two milestones last month: On Nov. 26, he became a member of the clergy of the Diocese of Honolulu and was also named pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Waianae (he previously was the parish administrator).
Father Ranjo was formerly a priest of the Diocese of Laoag, Philippines. He had served in Hawaii in the past, and joined Sacred Heart in July 2024.
Father Ranjo’s incardination was formalized in a ceremony Nov. 30 during Mass at Sacred Heart.
Bishop Larry Silva celebrated the liturgy, joined by Father Ranjo and Father Pascual Abaya, rector of the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace.
After the homily, Bishop Silva blessed Father Ranjo, who then recited his oath of commitment and marked his transfer to Honolulu from the Philippines by signing official documents in front of the faithful of Sacred Heart.
