Photos: Centennial celebration at St. Elizabeth

12/03/2025 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

Bishop Larry Silva has kept a packed schedule since returning from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ fall plenary assembly in mid-November. Among his recent activities was celebrating Mass Nov. 24 to open the centennial year for St. Elizabeth Church in Aiea, with many faithful and dozens of priests in attendance. Photographer Dann Ebina captured the historic occasion.

Top: After Mass, Bishop Silva blessed St. Elizabeth’s flag marking the start of the parish’s centennial year as well as the Vatican flag, bearing the Vatican’s coat of arms. Deacon Fred Carahasen, right, looked on, and Keola Kalani, center, was among those who helped hold up the flags.
