Bishop’s schedule

  • July 4-7, retreat with the Hawaii seminarians, Kalaupapa, Molokai.
  • July 9, 1 p.m., retreat for the St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii board of directors, Hale O Meleana, Honolulu.
  • July 10, 6 p.m., Mass with confirmation and first holy Communion, Sacred Heart Church, Pahoa.
  • July 11, 6 p.m., Mass for Bishop Larry Silva’s 50th priesthood anniversary with the East Hawaii Vicariate, St. Joseph Church, Hilo.
  • July 12, 9 a.m., Mass with ordination to the diaconate of John Akau, St. Joseph Church, Hilo; 5 p.m., Mass for the feast day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Waikane.
  • July 13, 9 a.m., Mass with confirmation and first holy Communion, St. Damien of Molokai Church, Kaunakakai.
  • July 15, 9:30 a.m., Bishop’s Administrative Advisory Council (virtual).

Bishop’s announcements and appointments

  • The Missionaries of Faith have appointed, and Bishop Silva has confirmed, the appointment of Rev. Poulouse (Paul) Kannampilly, M.F., as pastor of St. Rita Church, Haiku, effective since June 24.
  • Bishop Silva has appointed Deacon Christopher Ribucan to diaconal ministry at St. Theresa Church, Kihei, effective July 9.
  • The diocesan offices will be closed on Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.
