Knights of Columbus Council 6307 honors 5 scholarship awardees

07/02/2025 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

Special to the Herald

The Knights of Columbus Council 6307 presented scholarships May 30 to students at St. Anthony School and St. John Vianney School in Kailua, the result of funds raised at the council’s annual fish fry.

Dozens of Knights and volunteers gathered April 4 to prepare and serve dine-in and drive-thru meals at the Lenten event.

Generous sponsors contributed to the overall proceeds, a portion of which also went to the local nonprofit organization Ho‘ola Na Pua, which works to prevent sex trafficking and help young people who have been exploited.

The scholarship presentation took place at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Kailua, and included St. Anthony pastor Father Anthony Pangan. Knights Douglas Dudevoir, Larry Gonzales, James Kwong and Nicholos Long were in attendance, as was St. John Vianney Principal Caryn DeMello.

The St. Anthony students who received scholarships were fifth grader Carly Rose Silva, sixth grader Ryan Raymond and seventh grader Makayla Orellana.

The St. John Vianney students who received scholarship were fifth grader Aija Petersons and sixth grader Eric Cheang.
