Catholic Men’s Fellowship of Hawaii hosts wine tasting fundraiser

06/04/2025 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

A local group dedicated to promoting community and spiritual growth among Catholic men has organized a fundraiser next month to support and expand its efforts.

Catholic Men’s Fellowship of Hawaii, a nonprofit organization officially recognized by the Diocese of Honolulu a couple years ago, will hold its second annual Sip & Savor wine tasting and dinner on July 18 at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii in Honolulu.

The event, which starts at 5:30 p.m., will include recognition of “Authentic Catholic Men” — nominated by parishes or organizations in attendance — as well as a keynote address by Jesse Romero, an author, speaker and radio host who’s appeared at past CMFH events.

Ron Gochenouer, chairman of the board for CMFH, said that the inaugural Sip & Savor “was a hit all around,” and that the organization hopes to repeat the success this year.

CMFH’s goal is to hold more events, such as conferences, seminars and speaker presentations, and fundraisers such as Sip & Savor to help offset costs for attendees, Gochenouer explained.

“CMFH offers a vital space for men to reconnect with their faith, find community and develop the virtues necessary to navigate contemporary life with integrity and purpose,” he said, which is important in today’s world “where distractions, secular influences and societal pressures can weaken faith and family bonds.”
