Chaminade University of Honolulu will host a workshop next month that aims to help participants develop a deeper understanding of spirituality and how to incorporate it into their lives.
“Introduction to Spiritual Direction” will take place over five three-hour sessions from June 16-20 (including the Juneteenth federal holiday). The noncredit course, which is limited to 24 people, will be held from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Chaminade’s Henry Hall 202.
The course is open to clergy, religious women and men, and laypersons; the cost for all five days is $100.
The presenter is Marianist Father William “Bill” J. Meyer, who has been a spiritual director for more than 40 years. He holds a doctorate in ministry with a specialty in clinical pastoral counseling and spiritual direction.
Father Meyer is currently the rector of St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, and has served as the provincial assistant for religious life of the Marianist Province of the United States.
The workshop’s other objectives include enabling participants to learn about the dynamic of faith and prayer and about challenges to prayer and spiritual direction. Attendees will boost their knowledge of the different types of spiritual experience and how to discern the role of spirituality in their own lives.
