People seeking to embark on a pilgrimage as part of the Jubilee Year still have time to sign up for an 11-day journey to Italy with Bishop Larry Silva in October.
The “Shrines of Italy” Jubilee pilgrimage is scheduled for Oct. 12-22; Bishop Silva is the trip’s spiritual director.
Organized through Nativity Pilgrimage, the tour begins in Rome and travels throughout the city and the Vatican, then continues to Orvieto, Siena and Vinci before returning to and departing from the Eternal City.
Highlights of the pilgrimage include a visit to St. Peter’s Basilica and encountering its Holy Door; celebrating Mass at the Basilica of St. John Lateran, St. Mary Major and St. Paul Outside the Walls; exploring the St. Calixtus Catacombs; and touring Siena’s Basilica San Domenico, where the relics of St. Catherine of Siena are housed.
According to Tim Mullner of Nativity Pilgrimage, the pilgrimage will also include a “special blessing of prayer at the tomb of Pope Francis and the amazing grace of praying with our new pontiff,” Pope Leo XIV, at the weekly audience in St. Peter’s Square.
The cost of the trip, including airfare, is $5,590. A land-only option (in which the traveler arranges his or her own flights) is $3,890.
