  • April 15, 8 a.m., Bagels with Bishop at Sacred Hearts Academy, Kaimuki; 4 p.m., Father Damien-Mother Marianne Commission, Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa, Honolulu; 7 p.m., chrism Mass for Oahu-Molokai vicariates, Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa, Honolulu.
  • April 17, 6 p.m., Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper, Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace, downtown Honolulu.

Bishop’s announcements and appointments

  • The diocesan offices will be closed on Friday, April 18, in observance of Good Friday.
  • Bishop Silva announces the following appointments, effective July 1, unless otherwise noted:
    • Rev. Alfred Omar Guerrero as director of vocations, in addition to remaining the director of the Office of Worship (in residence at the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace).
    • Rev. Kurt Meyer, pastor of Holy Spirit Parish, Newman Center, Manoa (in residence at Sacred Heart Rectory, Punahou).
    • Rev. EJ Resinto, pastor, St. Catherine Church, Kapaa.
    • Rev. Nicholas Apetorgbor, temporary administrator, Our Lady of the Mount Church, Kalihi.
    • Rev. Ese’ese “Ace” Tui, pastor, Sacred Heart Church, Punahou.
    • Rev. Edgar Brillantes, sabbatical, effective June 1 (returning as pastor of Our Lady of the Mount Church, Kalihi, after the sabbatical).
    • Rev. Mr. Preston-Jay Castro, parochial vicar, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Ewa Beach (to be ordained a priest on May 16).
    • Rev. Mr. Lawrence Denis III, parochial vicar, St. Anthony Church, Wailuku (to be ordained a priest on May 16).
  • The leadership of the Missionaries of Faith has proposed, and Bishop Silva has endorsed, the following appointments:
    • Rev. Raju Paletti, MF, as temporary administrator of St. Rita Church, Haiku, effective April 18-June 30. (He replaces Father Robert NiNi, MF, who will be returning to his native Myanmar.)
    • Rev. Poulouse Kannampilly Chakapann, MF, as pastor of St. Rita Church, Haiku, effective July 1.
