Saint Louis School, Chaminade University of Honolulu, Sacred Hearts Academy and the Marianist Center of Hawaii came together Feb. 7 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Palolo Stream Bridge, which Marianist Brother Dennis Schmitz of the Marianist Center called a powerful connection between the world and Kalaepohaku, the hill that both Chaminade and Saint Louis School call home. The event included performances, a parade and speakers on the campuses’ Front Lawn; participants also walked to the bridge linking Waialae Avenue and Kalaepohaku. According to a press release from Saint Louis School, Hawaiian Contracting Co. built the bridge that passes over Palolo Stream in 1925 for $14,500.
