An expert in theological ethics will speak next month at Chaminade University of Honolulu as part of the university’s Marianist Lecture Series.
Jesuit Father James Keenan, who at Boston College is vice provost of global engagement, director of the Jesuit Institute and the Canisius Chair, will present “Learning from Grief: Epiphany in the Upper Room” at 4 p.m. on Feb. 9 in the Clarence T.C. Ching Conference Center at Chaminade.
Father Keenan joined the Jesuits in the order’s New York province in 1970 and was ordained in 1982. He became a faculty member at Boston College in the mid-2000s.
He has received the John Courtney Murray Lifetime Achievement Award from the Catholic Theological Society of America. Father Keenan’s books include “A History of Catholic Theological Ethics” (2022) and “The Moral Life” (2023), and he is the founding editor of the Georgetown University Press Moral Traditions series.
Father Keenan’s talk is open to the public; free parking is available. Registration is encouraged at chaminade.edu/marianist-lecture but is not required.
